Media Oasis Nominated for the United Nations Award at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Projects 2024

The "Media Oasis" project, initiated by the Ministry of Information, has been nominated for the prestigious United Nations Award for World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2024 Projects.
This nomination, announced by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) organization, recognizes the project as the sole representative for the Kingdom in the government media sector category.

Just a year after its launch in 2023, "Media Oasis" joins the ranks of over a thousand global projects competing for this accolade. This nomination highlights the concerted efforts of the Ministry of Information and its partners from both the government and private sectors. Together, they have participated in five editions of the Media Oasis, both local and international, showcasing the significant collaborative work that presents to the world the major achievements of the Kingdom's national transformation projects.

"Media Oasis" has made its mark locally and internationally, aligning with the Kingdom's participation in numerous global events and its hosting of several international and regional conferences. The first edition took place alongside the 32nd Arab Summit in Jeddah on May 18-19, 2023. It was followed by a second edition coinciding with the annual Hajj Symposium from June 20-22, 2023.

Further expanding its footprint, the Ministry of Information organized the third edition of the “Media Oasis” in India's capital, New Delhi, from September 9-11, 2023, alongside the Kingdom's involvement in the G20 Leaders' Summit and the official visit of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince to the Republic of India. The fourth edition was held in Diriyah, Riyadh, from November 9-11, 2023, in conjunction with the Kingdom hosting three summits: the Saudi-African Summit, the Extraordinary Arab Summit, and the Extraordinary Islamic Summit.

Additionally, the Ministry set up the fifth edition of the oasis in line with the Kingdom's attendance at the 173rd General Assembly held to select the host country for Expo 2030. The Ministry aims to provide a dedicated and suitable space for local and international media and journalists through "Media Oasis". This initiative facilitates media coverage of official events and major happenings at the heart of the Kingdom's significant national projects and hosted events.

The five editions of "Media Oasis" have attracted more than 9,800 guests from around the globe, received coverage by over 455 media outlets, and been attended by more than 2,600 local and international journalists from over 70 countries, producing over 440 news pieces and media coverage. Moreover, it featured more than 380 exhibitors representing over 65 government entities.

The voting phase concludes on March 31, 2024; votes can be cast through the following link: https://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/stocktaking/account/login. For a voting guide, please visit: http://short.media.gov.sa/ViwAAA.
