146 Students have graduated from the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) for 2021, in the first ever two-part graduation held at the College’s Paraquita Bay campus in Tortola.

The ceremonies were held on June 9 and 10, 2021, in the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium, were divided to allow for graduates to celebrate with family members while adhering to the Government’s COVID-19 protocols.

Delivering remarks to the graduating students, was President of the HLSCC Dr. Richard E. Georges who urged students to remember the extraordinary promise of the future expressed in the School’s institution’s motto: Our tomorrow begins today.

Two days of graduations

The ceremony for graduates receiving certificates of achievement and associates in Business and Computer Studies was held on June 9; while the ceremony for graduates receiving certificates of achievement and associates in Arts, Sciences and General Studies, and Workforce Training was held on June 10.

Delivering remarks to the graduating students, was President of the HLSCC Dr. Richard E. Georges who urged students to remember the extraordinary promise of the future expressed in the School’s institution’s motto: Our tomorrow begins today.

“Remember the lessons you have learned these past few years, both the ones contained in the syllabus and the ones that were not. Regardless of the subject area that is printed on your diplomas, there is one truth that I want you to carry out of this auditorium - this institution is better for you having been here. This Territory is better for you being here,” he remarked.

Dr. Goeroges further reminded students that they must also remember the community around them, which makes our successes possible.

The President’s awards went to Jordan Dawson (Left) for the full-time student achieving the highest cumulative grade point average and Gertrude Thomas (Right) for the part-time student achieving the highest cumulative grade point average.
