Arab Coalition shoots down drone targeting Saudi city

The Saudi-led Arab Coalition to support the legitimate Yemeni government said its air defense forces shot down an explosives-laden drone flown by "the terrorist Houthi militias" from Yemen towards Khamis Mushait city, in the southern region of Saudi Arabia.
The hostile drone was intercepted and destroyed, according to a statement from the command of the coalition carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Friday. Earlier today, the command said the coalition air defense forces foiled a similar drone attack targeting Jazan city.

Meanwhile, the Arab Parliament condemned the targeting of innocent civilians in Jazan Saturday by the Houthi terrorist militia with a booby-trapped drone.

In a statement issued in Cairo, the Arab Parliament said the deliberate attacks by the Houthi militia against civilians and civilian facilities in Saudi Arabia, confirm that it is a terrorist group that commits war crimes against humanity and flagrantly violates international law and international humanitarian law.

The Arab Parliament called on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities in confronting the practices of this terrorist group and stopping these repeated terrorist attacks that deliberately target civilians and the safety of civil aviation and threaten security, peace, and stability in the region and the world.

The Parliament also praised the Saudi Air Defense Forces, for intercepting and destroying the drone and expressed its full support for the Kingdom’s measures to protect its security, stability, and territorial integrity. In Tunis, the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers strongly condemned the repeated terrorist operations carried out by the Houthi terrorist militia, the latest of which was the launch of a booby-trapped drone on Jazan, Saudi Arabia, which was intercepted and destroyed by the Coalition forces.

The Secretariat said it condemns this deliberate criminal act by the terrorist Houthi militia targeting civilians and civilian facilities. The statement also praised the Saudi and coalition forces' efforts to take appropriate measures to protect civilians and confront all terrorist attempts of the Houthi militia, which is being supported financially and by weapons from outside parties.

The Secretariat stressed its solidarity and standing with Saudi Arabia and its support for all the Kingdom's measures to defend its territories and preserve the security and safety of its citizens and residents against the Houthi's terrorist attacks. In Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) strongly condemned the Houthi terrorist militias' attempts attacking civilians and civil objects in the two Saudi cities of Jazan and Khamis Mushait with two bomb-laden drones, successfully intercepted and destroyed by the Coalition forces. In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reiterated that these deliberate and systematic terror attacks by the Houthis reflect their blatant disregard for the international community and all international laws and norms.

The Ministry urged the international community to take an immediate and decisive stance to stop these recurrent acts, which target Saudi Arabia's security, in addition to vital and civilian installations and threaten global energy supplies, as well as the stability of the international economy.

It also stressed that the continuation of these attacks over the recent period is a grave escalation that represents new evidence of these militias' attempts to undermine security and stability in the region.

In Manama, the kingdom of Bahrain condemned the attempt of the Houthi terrorist militia to target Jazan, Saudi Arabia, with a booby-trapped drone, in a cowardly terrorist act that reflects its continued insistence on targeting civilian objects and civilians, praising the efficiency of the Saudi Air Defense Forces in intercepting the booby-trapped drone before it reached its target.

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain stands by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all the measures it takes to protect its security, stability and territorial integrity, calling on the international community to condemn these terrorist acts that violate the international humanitarian law and threaten the security and stability of the region.
