Vienna police, in collaboration with the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, announced the prevention of a planned terrorist attack at Westbahnhof train station.

The announcement was made on February 19, 2025, following the arrest of a 14-year-old boy on February 10. The investigation was conducted by the State Office for State Protection and Counterterrorism (LSE) and specialized WEGA forces.

During the arrest, authorities discovered two knives and several materials suggesting preparations for an attack.

The investigation determined that the teenager reportedly has ties to the Islamic State group (ISIS).
