Colorado Molotov Cocktail Attack Sparks National Outcry

Eight injured as a protest in support of Israeli hostages is targeted in Boulder, Colorado.
A Molotov cocktail attack targeting a protest supporting Israeli hostages in Boulder, Colorado, resulted in eight injuries, with at least one serious case reported.

The incident occurred on Sunday and has drawn significant national attention, with President Donald Trump labeling it as a horrific act while attributing responsibility to former President Joe Biden's immigration policies.

Trump, on his Truth Social platform, described the attack as an 'unforgivable tragedy' and asserted that the suspect, identified as Mohammed Sabri Suleiman, benefited from 'open border policies' under Biden.

He emphasized the need for stringent deportation policies, stating that Suleiman 'must be removed and will face the maximum penalties under the law.'

The U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, affirmed that the perpetrator would be held accountable, announcing that a hate crime charge had been filed against Suleiman.

The FBI confirmed the injuries sustained during the attack and noted that Suleiman was taken into custody after reportedly shouting 'freedom for Palestine.' Sources indicated that Suleiman is an Egyptian citizen residing illegally in the U.S., having a work permit that expired in March 2025.

International and domestic reactions have emphasized the urgency surrounding the increase in antisemitism.

A spokesperson for the United Nations, António Guterres, reiterated the organization's firm stance against antisemitism and any incitement to religious hatred and violence.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated solidarity with the attack's victims, emphasizing that there is no place for terrorism in the country.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gidon Sa'ar expressed shock at the antisemitic act targeting Jews in Colorado.

Meanwhile, the House Minority Leader condemned the attack, highlighting the Jewish community as victims of rising antisemitism.

The U.S. has seen increased tensions and polarization over the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Just weeks prior to the Boulder attack, an individual from Chicago was arrested for shooting two Israeli embassy staff members in Washington, D.C. This incident escalated divisive sentiments within the U.S. regarding the conflict in Gaza, between supporters of Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

Jewish community leaders in Colorado expressed their sorrow over the attack during a rally aimed at raising awareness about hostages held in Gaza.

The Israeli ambassador to the UN remarked that terrorism against Jews is a pervasive issue that transcends borders, impacting communities in the U.S.
