Education Ministry sets controls for filming inside schools

Education Ministry sets controls for filming inside schools

The Education Ministry has given the green light to media coordinators to film the activities held inside schools and also its achievements.
The filming will be assigned to the media coordinator exclusively according to an official letter of assignment from the school principal.

The decision to allow filming for media coordinators came at a time when the ministry prohibited filming male and female students and the educational and administrative staff in schools except with several conditions.

The conditions required a written permission from the school principal, according to a form prepared for that, as well as after notifying and coordinating with the school’s media coordinator.

It is necessary to obtain written consent from parents at the beginning of each academic year, to film the male students at all school levels, and female students in the primary stage, inside the school during events and class activities, the Ministry confirmed, according to the controls guide of filming inside schools, which it issued, and represented by the General Administration of Information and Communication.

The Ministry noted that it is allowed to film the works of female students in the intermediate and secondary levels, while it indicated that it is forbidden to film male and female students and publish their photos in personal accounts on social media platforms.

The Ministry stressed that it is also prohibited from external parties to take film inside schools unless after obtaining an official approval from the Department of Educational Media in the Department of Education.

In the event that an external party wishes to film inside schools, the Ministry has confirmed that this party must have an official media license from the Ministry of Media or a license to practice a profession for educational purposes.

It is important and necessary for every school to put a sign on its entrance indicating that it is forbidden to film unless after obtaining official permission according to the attached formula in the guide.
