The speech was made before the League’s joint ministerial committee, headed by Egypt, concerned with Turkish intervention in Arab states.

During the meeting, Shoukry reviewed the destructive practices of the Turkish regime in a number of Arab countries, and highlighted many instances of overt interference by the regime, such as its signing of the illegal Maritime Boundary Treaty with Libya in November of last year, according to the official spokesperson for the ministry, Ahmed Hafez.

The minister stressed the need for a unified and resolute Arab policy to deter the Turkish regime from further intervention within the Arab countries.

Secretary-General of the League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, condemned Turkish and Iranian interference in the affairs of Arab countries, confirming the League’s firm stance against it, and described the outside involvement as “taking a dangerous turn that will complicate existing conflicts.”
