Global Headlines: Quiboloy's Plea, Taiwan's F-16V Arrival, Hezbollah-Israel Clashes, Zambada's U.S. Arraignment, German Naval Movement, Morocco Flooding

Philippine pastor Apollo Quiboloy pleads not guilty to sex trafficking charges in Manila.
Prominent Philippine pastor Apollo Quiboloy, known as the "Appointed Son of God," pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking charges in Manila on September 13, 2024. Following his arrest involving over 2,000 security personnel, a pre-trial hearing is set for October, as Quiboloy remains a significant figure with close ties to former president Rodrigo Duterte.

Shifting to defense news, Taiwan's defense ministry announced that the first new F-16V fighter jets are set to arrive by the end of 2024 despite international supply chain issues. This $8 billion deal aims to expand Taiwan's F-16 fleet, enhancing its defense capabilities against growing threats from China, with full delivery expected by the end of 2026.

Meanwhile, in the Middle East, Hamas chief Yehya Sinwar extended his gratitude to Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah for their support in the ongoing Gaza conflict. The conflict has seen Hezbollah attacking Israel from the Lebanese-Israeli border, resulting in nearly 500 Hezbollah fighters' deaths and substantial displacement on both sides.

Turning to North America, Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, co-founder of the Sinaloa cartel, is set to be arraigned in New York on charges of drug trafficking, money laundering, and weapons offenses. His arrest follows the infamous El Chapo Guzman’s conviction, spotlighting the continuing battles against drug cartels.

In maritime news, two German naval vessels are making waves by sailing through the Taiwan Strait for the first time in over two decades. This move, confirmed by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, is likely to provoke a diplomatic response from Beijing, marking Germany's stance on the freedom of navigation in international waters.

Lastly, southern Morocco experienced deadly floods triggered by weekend thunderstorms, resulting in at least 18 casualties. These floods, however, offered some relief to farmers amid the nation's worst drought in 40 years, as efforts are underway with a $4.1 million government pledge for aid and repairs.
