Global Turmoil: Bolivia Clashes, Spanish Floods, Kyiv Drone Strikes, and Rising Tuberculosis Cases in Focus

Clashes in Bolivia injure nearly 30 as Evo Morales supporters protest potential arrest; storms in Spain cause flash floods and train disruptions. Russian drone attack injures nine in Kyiv amid escalating tensions, while Israel cuts ties with UN agency impacting aid in Gaza.
In Bolivia, clashes between police and supporters of former President Evo Morales have led to nearly 30 injuries, mainly involving the police, amid protests against his potential arrest on serious charges. Morales claims these charges are politically motivated by the current president, while his followers also express discontent over rising fuel and food prices.

Meanwhile, in Spain, ongoing storms have caused flash floods that swept away vehicles and disrupted train services, leading to concerns for the missing and chaos from Malaga to Valencia. With a high-speed train derailing and commuter lines affected, emergency responders and the army are working tirelessly, as debates on climate change intensify.

Over in Ukraine, a Russian drone attack on Kyiv injured nine people, including a young girl, as it sparked fires in residential and administrative buildings. The city's mayor reported a destroyed drone's debris caused the fire, with loud explosions echoing as air defenses were activated in the region.

In another development, Israel has passed legislation cutting ties with the UN agency aiding Palestinian refugees, raising fears over potential disruptions in Gaza's essential aid. The move complicates the UN agency's operations, given Israel's control over access to Gaza and the West Bank, amid uncertainty over the full impact.

Shifting focus to Lebanon, the historic village of Mhaibib faces ruin due to explosions amidst the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, displacing residents who now cling to hopes of rebuilding. The destruction, considered by some as collective punishment, echoes throughout the region, leaving families like Ayman Jaber's striving to recover.

Lastly, on a global health note, tuberculosis cases have soared to a record high in 2024, prompting calls for increased access to affordable testing. The disease sees its highest impact in Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Western Pacific, with countries like India and Indonesia contributing significantly to the surge.
