Global Turmoil: Mozambique's Deadly Protests, Somali Migrant Tragedy, US Airport Strike, UK Storm Chaos, Istanbul Family Tragedy, and West Bank Tensions

Mozambique faces criticism for deadly protest response; US airport workers strike for better wages during peak travel.
In Mozambique, Human Rights Watch has criticized security forces for their deadly response to post-election protests, which left at least 10 children dead. With President Filipe Nyusi acknowledging the widespread violence, opposition leader Venancio Mondlane continues to organize protests despite having reportedly fled the country.

Turning to Madagascar, a maritime tragedy unfolded as 22 Somali migrants perished when two boats capsized off the coast. Local authorities rescued 48 individuals, while Somalia’s government promised to investigate those behind the tragic voyage.

Meanwhile, in the United States, service workers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport initiated a strike during the busy Thanksgiving travel week. The workers demand higher pay and better conditions, highlighting that their current wages make affording basic necessities a struggle.

Across the Atlantic, the UK faced severe disruptions due to Storm Bert, which claimed four lives and caused significant travel interruptions. With roads closed and train services halted, the nation dealt with widespread flooding and ongoing weather warnings.

In Istanbul, a tragic domestic incident unfolded with a man taking the lives of seven family members before committing suicide, underscoring the issue of rising gun violence. This occurrence draws attention to the large number of mostly illegal firearms circulating within Turkiye.

Finally, in the West Bank, tensions have escalated as two Palestinians, including a 13-year-old boy, were killed during an Israeli raid. The violent encounter adds to the surge in hostilities since the ongoing Gaza conflict began last October.
