Global Turmoil: Turkish Strikes, Bangladesh Extradition Row, Gaza Conflict, Nigerian Tragedy, Afghan Refugee Heartache, and Indonesian Aviation Incident

Turkish air strikes destroy 21 PKK bases in northern Iraq; Bangladesh pushes for Sheikh Hasina's extradition from India. UN calls for action against Israel's occupation; Nigerian fuel tanker explosion kills 52.
Turkish air strikes in northern Iraq on September 9th targeted and destroyed 21 PKK bases, resulting in numerous militant casualties, as reported by Turkey's Defence Ministry.

Meanwhile, in South Asia, Bangladesh's war crimes tribunal is pressing for the extradition of ousted leader Sheikh Hasina from India, accusing her of "massacres" during her 15-year rule. Hasina's escape followed widespread protests, and although a 2013 extradition treaty exists between Bangladesh and India, political offenses can complicate the process.

On the same day, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk called for global action against Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories, highlighting an urgent need to end the Gaza conflict. Nearly 50,000 Palestinian deaths have occurred over the past year due to retaliatory Israeli military actions following Hamas attacks, which also led to 1,200 Israeli deaths.

Tragedy struck in northern Nigeria where a fuel tanker explosion claimed at least 52 lives and dozens of cattle after a collision in Niger State. The disaster, involving additional vehicles, illustrates ongoing safety issues related to poorly maintained roads and unsafe fuel siphoning practices, contributing to Nigeria's high road accident fatality rate.

Over in the UK, the Home Office rejected a visa application from an Afghan family wishing to reunite with their 13-year-old son, Ahmad, who was evacuated during the Taliban's takeover. Ahmad, living with extended family in Britain, faces ongoing separation, though newly proposed visa routes may renew hope for family reunification.

Lastly, a Trigana Air ATR-42 aircraft skidded off the runway in Papua, Indonesia, injuring several passengers, including a baby. The incident underscores Indonesia's aviation safety challenges, especially in regions with difficult terrain and frequent bad weather, where air transport remains crucial for connectivity.
