Global Unrest: Israeli Strike Kills Child, Russia Expels British Diplomats, Sweden's Migration Policy, and More

Israeli strike kills three in Lebanon; Hezbollah retaliates amidst escalating violence. In Russia, six British diplomats expelled over espionage claims.
An Israeli strike in southern Lebanon has tragically killed three people, including a child, and injured three others. Hezbollah has retaliated with a barrage of Katyusha rockets amidst the escalating cross-border violence that has been intensifying since early October.

Meanwhile, in Russia, six British diplomats have been expelled over accusations of espionage and sabotage, purportedly part of efforts to escalate the political and military tension in the region. The British Embassy remains silent, while Russian officials warn of potential further expulsions if such activities persist.

Shifting to Europe, Sweden plans to offer up to $34,000 for immigrants to voluntarily leave starting in 2026, as part of a new migration policy by the right-wing government. This initiative aims to address integration challenges, though it has sparked criticism for potentially signaling that migrants are undesirable.

Keeping an eye on the Ukraine conflict, Vyacheslav Volodin from Russia's State Duma has accused NATO of direct involvement in the war by aiding Ukraine's military decisions. This claim aligns with President Putin's warnings about Western countries engaging directly if they support Ukraine in targeting Russian cities.

Turning to South Africa, the nation mourns the loss of Pravin Gordhan, a revered anti-apartheid activist and former finance minister, who passed away at 75. President Cyril Ramaphosa praised Gordhan's integrity and contributions, particularly his efforts to transform the South African Revenue Services and fight governmental corruption.

Finally, in India, the Supreme Court has granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been in custody for nearly six months over graft allegations. Kejriwal denies the charges, describing them as politically motivated, with this decision coming just weeks before the national elections.
