Joe Biden’s proposed Gaza ceasefire deal, calling it 'just words.' Osama Hamdan, a Hamas representative, stated that no written commitments were provided by the US.
Biden’s plan, introduced last week, outlined an Israeli three-phase approach to end the conflict, release all hostages, and rebuild Gaza without Hamas.
However, Hamdan emphasized the absence of any documented US commitments.
He accused Biden of masking Israel's earlier rejection of a Hamas-approved deal.
The group remains open to a truce that includes a permanent ceasefire and Israeli troop withdrawal from Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu considered Biden’s plan 'partial.' Despite ongoing negotiations led by the US, Qatar, and Egypt, only a brief seven-day pause in November saw the release of over 100 hostages.
The conflict, ignited by Hamas's October 7 attack, resulted in 1,194 deaths on the Israeli side and the capture of 251 hostages.
Israel’s military retaliation has since claimed at least 36,654 lives in Gaza, mainly civilians.
