International Outcry Over Shooting of Turkish-American Activist; Global Leaders Demand Accountability

International Outcry After Turkish-American Activist's Fatal Shooting in West Bank; Erdogan and Biden Demand Israeli Accountability.
A tragic incident has sparked international outcry, as Turkish-American activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi was fatally shot during a protest in the West Bank town of Beita. The UN rights office and both Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Joe Biden are demanding accountability from Israeli forces, who acknowledged opening fire in the area.

Meanwhile, in France, Prime Minister Michel Barnier is set to form a new government next week amid political alliances and urgency over the 2025 budget. With a looming October 1 deadline, Barnier must navigate a hung parliament and alliances with Macron's centrist supporters, the right-wing Republicans, the left-wing NFP, and the far-right National Rally, all while managing tensions over last year's pension reform.

Shifting to the United States, a rare moment of unity was seen at a 9/11 memorial in New York, where Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden came together despite their ongoing election battle. Although the truce was temporary, polls indicated that Harris's performance in the previous night's presidential debate had a favorable impact.

In Algeria, discrepancies in the recent presidential election results have led to challenges from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and opposition candidates. The National Independent Election Authority initially reported voter turnout inconsistencies, causing concerns regarding the legitimacy of the results and raising eyebrows over Tebboune's reported 94.7 percent of the vote.

From South America, former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori passed away at 86 after battling cancer. Known for his impactful economic reforms and controversial human rights abuses, Fujimori's legacy remains mixed, having stabilized Peru's economy yet ultimately facing imprisonment for his actions.

Returning to the U.S. political scene, Donald Trump claimed victory in his debate against Kamala Harris, despite criticism from within his own party and advisors. As the election on November 5 approaches, speculation about a potential second debate grows, with many believing Trump needs another chance to regain momentum after Harris's strong performance.
