Iranian reciter fulfills a dream by winning fourth place in Otr Elkalam contest

The International Holy Qur’an and Call to Prayer competition, which is aired on Otr Elkalam (Scent of Speech) TV show, helped Iranian national Syed Jassem Mousavi to fulfill his dream of becoming a globally renowned Qur’an reciter.
Mousavi thanked the competition for providing him with this opportunity and said he seeks to establish an international institution for Holy Qur’an reciters. He said with would end his participation in Qur’an competitions and start working on other projects that involve teaching the Holy Qur’an and learning other styles of recitations.

Mousavi has said he intends to go to Morocco to learn the Warsh style according to Nafie and other recitations to add more aesthetics to his recitation.

He thanked the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Entertainment Authority, Turki Al-Sheikh, for launching the global initiative and said the unparalleled hospitality and organization he witnessed during the competition lived up to the highest international standards.

During the pre-final stages of the competition, Mousavi competed in difficult and challenging rounds. His rivals included a number of the sweetest and most beautiful voices reciting the Holy Qur’an. He eventually managed to get enough votes from the jury to win fourth place in the most beautiful voices in recitation category.

The jury included an elite team of experts in judging Qur’an competitions, muezzins of the Two Holy Mosques, senior international reciters and renowned judges of international competitions.

Mousavi began reciting the Holy Qur’an at the age of 6 with the encouragement of his father. He proceeded to imitate the voices of some renowned sheikhs and reciters, including Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, Mustafa Ismail, Mohammed Ahmad Shabib, Al-Minshawi, Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna, and others.

During his school years in the city of Ahvaz, Iran, he won first place in several Holy Qur’an competitions in schools, in addition to competitions at the national level in Iran.
