Kuwait Hosts Significant Energy and Sustainability Conference

Sponsored by Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait launched the Eighth International Conference on Energy Research Development with a ceremony attended by Dr. Jassim Al-Astad on behalf of the Crown Prince. As Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and Acting Minister of Public Works, Dr. Al-Astad highlighted Kuwait's support for energy research and global access to safe energy.
Kuwait's dedication to funding and aiding research in energy across various countries was a key point in Al-Astad's remarks. He announced Kuwait's strategy to drive research for sustainable energy development, ensuring its availability to all.

Dr. Al-Astad lauded the Crown Prince's involvement in the strategic energy sector and praised Kuwait University's research contributions toward community advancement, noting its role in hosting the event.

Dr. Mishaan Al-Otaibi of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research emphasized the conference's role in tackling urgent energy matters, promoting knowledge sharing, and exploring practical solutions for societal benefits. He stressed the rise of renewable energy, noting Kuwait's target of achieving 4,000 megawatts by 2030, and called for efficient use of energy resources, including oil, with research guiding production enhancements.

Dr. Mishari Al-Harbi of Kuwait University recognized the conference's importance in fostering scientific inquiry in energy, underscoring its significance for local researchers' advancement in energy management.

Engineer Faisal Al-Attal of the Kuwaiti Society of Engineers highlighted initiatives in energy, including committees on renewables, and stressed the Society's focus on training engineers to meet technological advances. He pointed out a successful energy-saving initiative in mosques, which cut consumption by 60 percent.
