Mediators from Qatar, the United States, and Egypt are urging Israel and Hamas to finalize a ceasefire and hostage release deal based on US President Joe Biden's framework. Despite a stalemate in negotiations since early May, this agreement aims to deliver relief to people in Gaza and hostages' families, laying out a roadmap for a permanent ceasefire.
On Saturday, mediators from Qatar, the United States, and Egypt called on Israel and Hamas to finalize a ceasefire and hostage release deal based on a framework outlined by US President
Joe Biden.
The joint statement from the Qatari foreign ministry emphasized that the agreement incorporates demands from all parties and offers a roadmap for a permanent ceasefire and resolution of the crisis.
Despite months of negotiations, talks had stalled in early May when Israel initiated ground operations in Rafah.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also engaged in separate discussions with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to facilitate the deal.
