New license plates reflect Saudi culture, vision
Motorists in Saudi Arabia can now add a national touch to their vehicles’ license plates with five distinctive designs, depicting famous Saudi sites and cultural symbols.
Coinciding with the Founding Day celebrations in the Kingdom, the Absher e-platform has started to issue the special license plates at a cost of only SR800 ($213).
The initiative is part of a cooperative project being implemented by the ministries of culture, interior and finance. The Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence is also part of the project, according to the announcement posted on Absher.
The five logos, which were designed and approved by the Ministry of Culture, include the country’s national emblem (two crossed swords and a palm tree), Diriyah’s historical Turaif district, Hegra and the logo of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Ministry of Culture selected Turaif for its historical value as the first nucleus of modern Saudi Arabia, which was founded in 1727.
Both Turaif and Hegra are rich cultural sites that are among Saudi Arabia’s six sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List, while the logo of Saudi Vision 2030 represents the Kingdom’s ongoing comprehensive development.
The Interior Ministry called upon all citizens and residents wishing to benefit from the service to log in to their Absher accounts, choose the traffic service, request the “plate-with-logo” service and attach a copy of the payment receipt.
The initiative not only adds an aesthetic touch to vehicles but also reflects the cooperation and integration between government agencies in highlighting national and cultural values through innovative ideas.
