Boosting a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been recommended for all vaccinated patients in several countries such as Israel and the US.
Dr. Eduardo Ortega , from the National Secretariat of Science and Technology (Senacyt), detailed that the recommendation of a third dose of the
COVID-19
vaccine will be directed to immunosuppressed patients.
These are patients with diseases such as cancer, or who require medications that lower their defenses.
"We have several components, if the virus had not mutated, a booster was not required for up to two years, and in this case you have patients who require a third dose to achieve protection," Ortega said.
He indicated that this recommendation of reinforcement will be given when the number of positives with
vaccines increases.
On the other hand, he explained that there will be deceased people who have the
vaccine, however it does not mean that they have died from the immunizer. "We must not pay attention to people who are anti-
vaccines, but to those who have doubts," he concluded.
To date, in Panama about 4 million doses of
vaccine against
COVID-19 have been applied; of that total, 111 thousand doses have been applied to minors between 12 and 15 years of age.
