Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has indicated that Israel may postpone the Gaza ceasefire, initially set to commence at 6:30 GMT, contingent on Hamas providing a list of hostages due for release.

The warning follows an accord reached between Israel and Hamas on January 15, after discussions held in Doha, Qatar.

Hamas, in its response, attributed its delay in delivering the list of hostages to unspecified 'technical reasons,' yet reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire's terms.

The group's communication was echoed through various media channels, including Al Jazeera, emphasizing continued adherence to the agreement.

The ceasefire framework, announced by Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, is structured in three phases.

The initial phase, slated for a six-week duration, incorporates the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the exchange of hostages and prisoners, and an enhancement of humanitarian aid supplies to Gaza.

Further, dialogue regarding the second and third phases of the ceasefire arrangement is anticipated to advance during the implementation of the initial stage.

These subsequent phases, however, lack a detailed strategy and require further negotiation.

This ceasefire initiative forms part of broader efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region, with Qatar playing a mediating role in facilitating discussions leading to the current agreement.
