Prominent Syrian Actress Fadwa Mohsen Passes Away at 84

Fadwa Mohsen, a renowned Syrian actress, has passed away at the age of 84, as confirmed by the Syrian Artists Syndicate in a statement released on social media.

The announcement came on May 20, 2025, with details regarding her funeral expected to be disclosed in the coming days.

Mohsen was born on February 26, 1941, in Deir ez-Zor, Syria.

She embarked on her artistic career in the mid-1980s, gradually gaining recognition in the television and film industry.

Her significant breakthrough occurred in 1992, when she starred in the television series 'Tarabish,' which is credited with redefining her career trajectory.

She is perhaps best known for her role as 'Om Ibrahim' in the television series 'Bab Al-Hara,' a show that gained immense popularity in the Arab world and solidified her status as a beloved figure in Syrian cinema.

The series has been influential in shaping contemporary Syrian drama.

Fadwa Mohsen's contributions to the Arab arts were acknowledged by various figures in the entertainment industry, including her son, actor Hami Bakkar, who expressed his grief on social media.
