Renewed Israeli Airstrikes in Gaza Result in Casualties Amid Ongoing Military Operations

At least 42 Palestinians have died in recent airstrikes, provoking further displacement and destruction in the Gaza Strip.
Since dawn on April 7, 2025, Israeli airstrikes across several areas in the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of at least 42 Palestinians and injured many others.

The strikes included drones targeting locations near the al-Wahda Tower in western Gaza City.

Reports indicate that additional casualties occurred when airstrikes targeted Palestinians in the intelligence area west of Gaza City, along with strikes on al-Jalaa Street.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have continued their military operations in the al-Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, where airstrikes and artillery fire have intensified.

Israeli military vehicles have undertaken demolition operations on agricultural lands and infrastructure in that region for the past four days.

It has been reported that a woman and a child lost their lives due to an aerial bombardment in al-Nazzaz Street, al-Shujaiya.

Medical professionals at the Baptist Al-Ahli Hospital have described the condition of several injuries as critical, with emergency rescue teams facing significant challenges in reaching individuals trapped under the rubble due to the intensity and randomness of the Israeli bombardments.

In light of the recent military actions, thousands of Palestinians have been compelled to evacuate their homes in the al-Shujaiya and al-Zeitoun neighborhoods, following Israeli warnings for immediate evacuations.

Families have been seen carrying essential belongings and moving towards central and western areas of Gaza City in search of safer refuge, while facing severe shortages of transportation and fuel.

Israeli forces were observed preparing new military sites within the Gaza Strip, having reportedly gained control over significant portions of land during ongoing military operations, which the United Nations indicates may include up to two-thirds of the Gaza Strip.

Local residents have noted increased signs suggesting a long-term military establishment, including the construction of observation towers in both al-Shujaiya and the southern region near Khan Yunis and Rafah, areas where the former Israeli settlement of Morag was located.

Videos circulating on social media depict heavy machinery protected by machine guns and surveillance cameras, as well as excavation equipment operating near al-Shujaiya.

The Israeli military has consistently issued evacuation orders to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians across southern, central, and northern Gaza since the resumption of military operations on March 18. Recent evacuation orders also impacted several areas in Deir al-Balah and al-Zawiya, regions that have seen significant displacement in the past two weeks.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has reported that nearly 65% of the Gaza Strip's territory has been affected by either military occupation or evacuation orders.

In Rafah alone, the International Rescue Committee has documented the displacement of approximately 140,000 individuals over the past two weeks.

Since October 7, 2023, the ongoing conflict has led to more than 165,000 Palestinian casualties, predominantly among children and women, alongside over 11,000 individuals reported missing, amid worsening famine conditions in the besieged territory.
