Riyadh Club Escapes Relegation Zone with Precious Victory Over Al Akhdoud Host

Riyadh Club scored a goal in each half to claim a 2-1 victory over host Al Akhdoud, distancing themselves from the relegation zone in the Saudi Professional League for football on Friday.
The win advanced Riyadh to the 14th spot with 23 points, trailing on goal difference behind Al Akhdoud in the 13th position.

Knowledge Musona provided the lead for Riyadh with a header following a rebound from Al Akhdoud's goalkeeper, Paulo Vitor, during the first half's injury time.

However, Saviour Godwin scored an equalizer for the home team in the 74th minute with a low shot after Riyadh's defense failed to clear a corner kick.

But Anthony Gray secured the win three minutes from time, taking advantage of a misdirected clearance by goalkeeper Vitor to convert Musona's cross.

Abha Beats Al-Taawoun with a Krychowiak Double

In another match played at the same time between two teams from the bottom of the league, Grzegorz Krychowiak netted a goal in each half to lead Abha to a 2-0 victory over visitor Al-Taawoun.

This marked the first league win for coach Pitso Mosimane with the team.

The former Poland international scored the first goal in the 38th minute with a shot from close range into the narrow angle.

Krychowiak then added the second goal following a counter-attack four minutes after the break.

The win brought Abha's points total to 18, placing them in the penultimate 17th position, just behind Al-Taawoun on goal difference, which holds the 16th spot, the first of the relegation places.
