TEHRAN: Iran announced on Saturday that it anticipates Hezbollah, the Lebanon-based group supported by Tehran, to strike deeper within Israel and not limit its attacks to military targets.

This follows the killing of Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr by Israel.

The conflict escalated after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, leading to a war in Gaza.

In a significant development, an Israeli strike on a densely populated area in South Beirut also killed five civilians, including three women and two children, alongside Shukr.

Iran's mission to the United Nations indicated that Hezbollah would now expand its target range.

Following Shukr's death, Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh was also killed in Tehran.

The chief of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, warned of an inevitable response to these killings.
