Saudi Arabia can become fashion hub, supermodel Yulia Lobova tells ‘Mayman Show’

Supermodel, stylist and fashion editor Yulia Lobova believes Saudi Arabia’s dramatic landscapes offer an ideal location for more fashion shows in the Kingdom.
“This is my second time in Saudi Arabia, and it’s wonderful because my first time was in AlUla and I was impressed by the concept to have a theater in the desert,” she said.

“It’s like a fairy tale. From this moment I start to think that I need to go to shooting, and the shooting here like a fashion professional shoot,” said Lobova on “The Mayman Show” for Arab News.

The model also said that the landscapes and people in the Kingdom are very welcoming.

“It was impressive. People are very well educated, speak a few languages, perfect English and French. I think it’s a very well-educated nation,” she said.

Lobova has visited numerous locations in the Arab world, such as Lebanon, and hopes to discover more of what this region has to offer.

“I would like to come back to AlUla. I want to see Diriyah. So, basically, tomorrow we’re going to shoot there. I’m very happy because it will be open to the public soon,” she said.

“You have a beautiful country. You have amazing talents. It will be wonderful if, one day, I can collaborate with a new designer, an upcoming designer, a younger designer, and we can do a photoshoot together or a fashion show.”

Lobova also said that traditional attire helps Saudi fashion stand out.

“Here it is all about the abaya. Arabian women can wear a beautiful scarf, a beautiful abaya, and they have an elegance. They use a lot of good accessories. I really fell in love with how Arabian woman dressed.”

The model said that she is a huge fan of Carla Bruni Sarkozy, wife of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy.

“She’s my icon. Basically, I showed her look on the cover of Elle magazine and met her personally. She’s legendary,” Lobova said.
