Saudi Arabia Executes Two Bahrainis for Alleged Terrorism
Saudi Arabia has executed two Bahrainis for alleged involvement in "terrorism," raising the number of such executions this month to nine.
The men were accused of being part of a terrorist cell and planning to launch attacks in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
They were arrested in 2015 and sentenced in 2021.
The United Nations has urged Saudi Arabia to halt the execution of the two men and to ensure that they are retried in accordance with international law.
Saudi Arabia has executed over 1,000 people since King Salman assumed power in 2015, mainly for "terrorism"-related offenses.
The kingdom has been accused of executing political dissidents and human rights activists, and it has also been accused of supporting Bahrain in its crackdown on a Shia protest movement.
