Shoura Council’s delegation meets with MEPs in Brussels

The Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the European Parliament at the Shoura Council, headed by the Council’s member and Chairman of the Committee Dr. Ayman Bin Saleh Fadel, visited the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels.
During the visit, the committee met with Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament David McAlliste and a number of officials in Parliament.

During the meeting, Dr. Fadel affirmed that Saudi Arabia is facing a war in Yemen against terrorist militias, adding that the Kingdom is working to stop terrorist attacks that target civilian and vital areas and oil installations in the Kingdom.

He asserted that the Kingdom seeks to find a political solution in Yemen in order to achieve security and peace for the Yemeni people.

For his part, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament referred to the hostile Iranian behavior in the region. During the visit, the committee also held separate meetings with a number of the EU Parliament’s members.

During the meetings, the members of the committee presented a clarification of the Kingdom’s permanent and supportive stances for security and peace in the world with regard to various international and regional issues as well as the efforts made by the Kingdom in combating terrorism, and its role in deterring terrorist militias that undermine security in the region, and threaten Maritime traffic and its impact on global oil supplies.

The Shoura’s delegation also affirmed Saudi Arabia’s stance in supporting dialogue, which is aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the current crisis between Russia and Ukraine, stressing the Kingdom’s readiness to provide efforts that contribute to reaching a solution to this crisis.

The delegation also pointed out to the consultations that took place during the phone calls received by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, deputy prime minister and minister of defense, from the Russian president and the Ukrainian president during the last period.

The members of the committee referred to the transformations and changes that the Kingdom is witnessing in many fields, highlighting the contents of the Kingdom Vision 2030, the support provided to women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the updates taking place in the Kingdom’s regulations and legislation, and its efforts in the field of human rights.
