Subcommittee of the Ministry of Health will analyze and classify deaths from COVID-19
The specific mortality rate for COVID-19 in the first two months of the pandemic was 6 per 100,000 inhabitants in Panama, with a case fatality rate of 2.9%, according to epidemiologist Xavier Sáez Llorens.
The Health Minister Rosario Turner instructed the formation of a subcommittee to analyze mortality COVID-19 in Panama, the reported head of the Department of Epidemiology MoH, Nadja Porcell.
The purpose of the measure is to know exactly the characterization of the people who have died during this period due to this event, which has left over 300,000 dead worldwide, 269 in Panama.

The epidemiological report of the Ministry of Health reported 269 deaths from COVID-19, keeping 343 hospitalized patients, 72 of them in critical condition in intensive care units.
The report shows that nearly 200 of the total deaths correspond to adults over 60 years of age.
