In an attempt to ensure a more efficient and modern accounting system for the Government of the Virgin Islands, an upgrade of the JD Edwards Enterprise One has finally been completed.

We wish to advise you that at the end of September, salary payments for some public officers will be made on 1st October rather than 30th September for this transitional period only. The normal payroll cycle will resume from 15th October.

We want to assure public officers that the slight delay in the payment of salaries is not a financial issue, but rather due to some technical modifications to the system that was required.

It was compulsory to update the system because the current JD Edward version used was outdated and deemed obsolete. The Government wanted to take every effort to upgrade the system to the newer version to prevent system failure due to the dated software.

Additionally, it was important to upgrade the system to the newer version to enable users to have a modernised and user-friendly platform while minimising unnecessary expenditure. Also, it would provide an opportunity for all of the stakeholders to establish and document operational and procedural measures as necessary.
