Tamimi Markets appoints a new CEO

“Tamimi Markets” announced on Sunday the appointment of Bobby Rajendran as CEO effective January 1, 2023.
Rajendran has been with the company since 2014, and as its GM since 2019. Tamimi Markets is Saudi Arabia's fastest-growing retail food chain as recently announced by Global Brands Magazine in 2022 with 103 stores across the kingdoms of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

Over the past four years, “Tamimi Markets” has expanded into new markets, grown its store base of both Tamimi Markets and Tamimi Express locations, added to its international supply chain network and built a rapidly growing customer base. It successfully navigated the COVID pandemic under Rajendran’s leadership, often setting the pace with quality, cleanliness and high international standards. Bobby has recently refreshed its store designs and celebrated the company’s family spirit. “Tamimi Markets is a Saudi family, proudly serving the families of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, with Fresh, Safe, Healthy foods, with a smile. We furthermore believe that ‘Once you walk in, you’re Family’ – which applies equally to our valued customers, staff and supplier community” Bobby added.

Rajendran is an international retail food and distribution executive with over 30 years of business expertise gained from major corporations in the USA, UK, and Indonesia. Bobby joined “Tamimi Markets”, in 2014 as VP Finance and was promoted to GM in 2019. Since becoming GM, Bobby has increased sales by +49%, achieved Tamimi Markets best ever year in sales and profits, grown its customer base and market shares, entered 6 new markets, and surpassed 100 stores. “We’ve only just begun” Bobby stated. “I am grateful to our loyal customers, the Tamimi family and to our dedicated team at Tamimi Markets who’ve helped us outperform our modern trade competitors these past four years as measured by Nielsen, and build the foundation upon which our continued expansion is planned” Bobby added.

In 2023, “Tamimi Markets” will be entering Jeddah with several major projects and continues to add new locations to a growing number of communities across both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. “Tamimi Markets” are located across Eastern Province, Riyadh, Majma’ah, Qassim, Tabuk, NEOM, Umluj, Medina, and Ahba plus in premier residential compounds nationwide with its Tamimi Express format. Beyond carrying shopper’s favorite local and international brands, the Fresh-focused retailer offers exclusive brands that include Safeway USA’s Signature Select, O Organic, Open Nature and Lucerne Dairies, Costco USA’s Kirkland Signature and Sainsbury’s UK range. The company features its ‘Tamimi Markets since 1979’ private label line and rewards its loyal customers with cash back on purchases when using Tamimi’s Themari loyalty program. “Look for more exciting news from “Tamimi Markets” over the weeks ahead as we build our next 100 stores and welcome more communities into the Tamimi Family” exclaimed the new CEO.
