A team of experts concerned with Yemen Tuesday visited King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre’s (KSrelief) in Riyadh.
The delegates listened to a briefing by Health and Environmental Aid Director Dr. Abdullah Bin Saleh Al-Moallem on KSrelief’s achievements and works in 76 countries around the world that included implementing 1,776 humanitarian and relief projects with a total value of$5,504,145,000 in cooperation with 144 local, regional and international partners.

Dr. Al-Moallem noted that these schemes covered the fields of food security, health, humanitarian operations, accommodation, early recovery, water, environmental sanitation, education, protection, nutrition, logistics and communications during emergency.

He also referred to KSrelief’s efforts in Yemen, which tops countries benefiting from its assistance with over $3,914,815,000 distributed over more than 625 projects and programs that covered various vital sectors.

Al-Moallem referred to challenges facing the duties of KSrelief by the terrorist Houthi militias who manage to hinder the access of humanitarian assistance to Yemen. He cited installing of mines and hiding them randomly in various ways, a gesture showing their insistence to harm the brotherly Yemeni people and claiming the lives of a big number of children, women and the elderly, whereas survivors were either injured or suffering severe amputations.

He also reviewed KSrelief’s MASAM Project for Landmine Clearance in Yemen running for the fourth consecutive year, noting that more than 285,000 mines have been dismantled so far.

Al-Moallem also referred to KSrelief’s artificial limbs project in Yemen benefiting more than 25,000 people so far, adding that services under the project include installing artificial limbs, psychological and physical rehabilitating for the injured and training local cadres in the field.

For their part, the visiting delegates expressed their high appreciation of KSrelief, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s relief arm, for the assistance it provides for Yemen and its people.
