The effective reproduction number of COVID-19 in Panama decreases to 0.87
The effective reproduction number or Rt of COVID-19 in the country has dropped to 0.87, as reflected in the epidemiological report issued by the Ministry of Health of Panama (Minsa).
The Rt or effective reproduction number as of August 30 at the national level remains below 1, specifically at 0.87 and the Rt for deaths is still below one, at 0.88, explained the director of the Metropolitan Health Region, Israel Cedeño.
By regions, Panama Metro marks 0.82 in Rt, Panama Oeste 0.76, Chiriquí 0.85, Darien marks 0.48, while the highest effective reproduction number to date is marked by Herrera with 1.25.
He explained that since August 24, when the restrictive measures began to be relaxed to date, a drop in the number of COVID-19 cases reported daily is reflected, the number of hospitalized patients in the ward and in the care unit has decreased. Intensive care unit, also reported a drop in the number of deaths.
