Commencing just after 7:30 pm, the soca show which lasted more than three hours saw approximately 13,000 views and more than 1,100 comments at the conclusion of the event.

DJ Wiz was the host of the show, warming up proceedings with a number of soca hits both from local and regional artistes.

Dance group Nouveau Royal then officially got the show going with the first act on the night, performing a number of choreographed dances which lasted approximately seven minutes.

The remainder of the musical proceedings was backed by the Xtreme Band and featured artistes including Pascal, Boss and the BVI’s first-ever Road March winner, Chappy.

The curtains were drawn following a dance performance by Disenthral Festival Troupe in their matching festival costumes.

The virtual showcase was sponsored by the Ministry of Education & Culture, the Virgin Islands Festivals & Fairs Committee, the National Bank of the Virgin Islands, and the Premier’s Office.

Other scheduled events

Meanwhile, the activities will continue today Festival Tuesday with a Virtual Calypso Review which begins at 7 pm.

On Wednesday, the Festival of Culture & Praise event will take place throughout the day, while on Friday the Cultural Food Fair is scheduled for the Cyril B Romney Tortola Pier Park.

The final event is the Farmers Market, which will be held on August 8 in Carrot Bay.
