Two Charged with Murder Following Hit-and-Run Death of Yemeni Teenager in Sheffield

Zulkernain Ahmed and Amaan Ahmed face multiple charges, including murder, after the tragic incident that claimed the life of 16-year-old Abdullah Yaser Abdullah Al-Yazidi.
Two men have been charged with murder in connection with the death of a 16-year-old boy, Abdullah Yaser Abdullah Al-Yazidi, who was allegedly struck by a vehicle in Sheffield last week.

The suspects, Zulkernain Ahmed and Amaan Ahmed, have also been charged with three counts of attempted murder, according to South Yorkshire Police.

Al-Yazidi, who had recently immigrated to the UK from Yemen three months prior, was reportedly walking in the Darnall area when the incident occurred.

His family stated he was preparing to start college in September and had been learning English.

Described by loved ones as a cheerful individual, Al-Yazidi was said to bring joy to those around him.

Witnesses reported that a grey Audi was involved in the incident, first colliding with an 18-year-old man riding an electric bike before also striking Al-Yazidi.

The teenager was later hospitalized but succumbed to his injuries.

The cyclist sustained serious injuries but is expected to recover.

In addition to the murder charges, both suspects are scheduled to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.

A 46-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, are currently on bail pending further investigation.

Saleh Alsirkal, a relative of Al-Yazidi and owner of a local shop, described the teenager as kind-hearted, expressing that his family had brought him to the UK for a chance at a better future.

Local councillor Qais Al-Ahdal commented on the impact of Al-Yazidi's passing, stating that he was well-liked and respected within the community, affirming that the loss has united residents in grief.
