Worshippers at Grand Mosque perform Fajr prayer without physical distancing
Worshippers at the Grand Mosque Sunday performed the Fajr (dawn) prayer without physical distancing, following a decision by the Ministry of Interior to lift preventive procedures and halt applying physical distancing procedures at the Grand Mosque, Prophet’s Mosque and other mosques, with continuing to commit to wearing masks.
The Grand Mosque provides a healthy and safe environment, where the Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques purifies air conditioning inside the Grand Mosque nine times per day and sterilizes air with ultraviolet radiation before spreading it to the mosque through special air conditioning devices that purify air 100% through several stages.
The stages include withdrawing natural air from the roof of the Grand Mosque through suction fans, where air is pumped to filters that are cleaned daily before air arrives at cooling units.
This represent a preliminary cooling phase through thermal exchange that uses water for cooling through water pumps that reach the Grand Mosque from Al-Shamiyyah and Ajyad areas. Air is purified before accessing the cooling operation through three other filters.
Also, more than 4,000 employees continue to sterilize the Grand Mosque, its roof, yards and facilities and preparing the mosque for visitors and worshippers through cleaning it 10 times a day with the use of the latest machinery that were provided by the wise leadership to ensure the health and safety of worshippers upon performing rituals and prayers.
