The inaugural U.S.-Saudi Biotech Alliance Summit took place on January fourteenth in San Francisco, bringing together top figures from the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to advance collaboration in biotechnology, immunotherapy and global health preparedness.

Co-chaired by His Excellency Dr. Bandar Alknawy, Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs and President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, the event was held alongside the forty-fourth Annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference and united leaders from government, healthcare, research, finance and industry.

Dr. Alknawy, alongside Her Royal Highness Dr. Haya bint Khaled Al Saud and Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, Founder and Executive Chairman of NantWorks and ImmunityBio, helped steer discussions focused on advancing ‘Immunotherapy 2.0’, modernising artificial intelligence-enabled biomanufacturing and strengthening preparedness for cancer, pandemics and other life-threatening health threats.

Panel sessions and keynote addresses explored Saudi Arabia’s National Biotechnology Strategy, opportunities for regulatory alignment between the two nations and investment pathways to scale breakthrough therapies worldwide.

Organisers stressed that the summit was designed to move beyond dialogue to actionable cooperation, aligning national leadership to accelerate implementation of next-generation treatments and bolster the resilience of healthcare systems globally.

Afternoon sessions highlighted scientific advances in fields such as antibody discovery, robotics and digital health, reflecting the broad scope of scientific and commercial engagement.

The event marked a significant milestone in U.S.–Saudi cooperation in the life sciences, with senior U.S. administration representatives, leading innovators and investors attending alongside Saudi officials, underscoring a shared commitment to translating scientific innovation into real-world patient impact.
