In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, King Abdullah II of Jordan met with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid on Tuesday at the Basman Al-Zaher Palace in Amman.

The meeting centered on enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as energy, trade, transportation, and economic integration.

King Abdullah emphasized the necessity for both countries to work together in developing joint electricity projects and easing the movement of goods and individuals between them.

This agreement aims to strengthen Jordan's and Iraq's interconnectedness and foster a more robust economic partnership.

Both leaders discussed their shared commitment to regional stability, advocating for peaceful solutions that uphold state sovereignty and security across the Middle East.

They reaffirmed their countries' support for Palestinian national rights, including the right to an independent state.

King Abdullah also stressed the importance of maintaining the Gaza ceasefire and preventing further Israeli escalations in the occupied West Bank.

He urged a greater sense of unity among Arab states to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza and called attention to the impact of Israeli actions on Palestinians as well as attacks on Jerusalem's religious sites.

Representing Jordan were Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Industry, Trade, and Supply Minister Yarub Qudah.

The Iraqi delegation also participated in the meeting.
