COPENHAGEN: Denmark has announced its participation in an airdropping humanitarian aid operation over Gaza, joining efforts coordinated by Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

According to Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, this decision comes amid an open window allowed by Israel until the end of August for such operations.

While acknowledging that the method is not optimal, Rasmussen stated it serves as an emergency solution given the current circumstances.

The operation involves the use of a C-130 aircraft to drop supplies over the Gaza Strip before August 22, with details on the size of Denmark's contribution remaining undisclosed.

This move follows 22 months of war in the region, exacerbated by concerns over famine and restrictions on aid distribution imposed by Israeli authorities.

International organizations have long criticized these measures, prompting Western countries like Britain, France, and Spain to collaborate with Middle Eastern nations for air delivery of humanitarian supplies to the Palestinian enclave.
