44th IAEE Conference to address 7 critical topics

44th IAEE Conference to address 7 critical topics

Seven critical topics under the theme “Pathways to a clean, stable, and sustainable energy future” will be addressed during the 44th International Conference of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), to be held in Riyadh.

It is the first time the conference will be held in the Middle East region.

The topics include the economy and energy mix diversification; development and climate change; energy changes and their courses; investment and financing in the energy sector; transport and technology; industrial efficiency and competitiveness; and changes in the energy markets, including security of supply.

The conference, organized by the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) and the Saudi Association for Energy Economics (SAEE), will take place from February 4 to February 8, 2023.

“The conference will emphasize the interdependence of a clean, stable, and long-term energy path. It will be the first time the IAEE organizes its annual conference in the Middle East and North Africa region, a region that has produced more than 40% of the world's oil and gas over the past two decades,” President of KAPSARC Fahad Alajlan said.

The SAEE Chairman, Dr. Majid Al Moneef, said the conference comes after COVID-19, the Ukrainian crisis, and global reactions to climate change, all of which have underlined the importance of energy in global sustainability, security, and well-being. The conference's plenaries and research papers will cover issues in the global and MENA energy landscapes.

The conference organizers announced that the deadline for paper submissions is September 9, and all interested academics can submit their participation via www.iaee2023.saudi-aee.sa/abstract-submission/.

The IAEE was established in 1977 to facilitate an understanding of energy economics and its practical applications. The organization holds five conferences each year, attracting more than 500 people, including government officials, private sector executives, thought leaders, and academics, among others. The 43rd IAEE Annual Conference will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from July 31-August 4, 2022.

KAPSARC is an advisory think tank with a focus on global energy economics and sustainability, providing consulting services to the Saudi energy sector.

SAEE is a non-profit civil society that aims to promote energy economics in the Kingdom by holding events and enhancing dialogue and discussion around the energy sector's challenges and related industries.
