The President of the Young Entrepreneurs Union (YEU) within the G20, Prince Fahd bin Mansour, stated at the Arab Entrepreneurship Summit in Marrakesh that significant growth opportunities, like the 2034 FIFA World Cup in Saudi Arabia, await the Arab region.
On December 12, Prince Fahd highlighted the potential surge in the entrepreneurial sector due to such events, citing the vital role of startups for economic stability in the Arab world. He advocated for increased investment to foster prosperity in the region’s entrepreneurial landscape.
The summit, set to conclude on December 14, sees over 1,000 economic sector specialists, investors, policymakers, international agencies, and funding bodies in attendance.
The UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia launched the second Arab SMEs Summit amidst heightened regional and global challenges for Arab entrepreneurs.
The summit initiates in partnership with Morocco's Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills and aims to foster partnerships and better policies to support inclusive growth for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Younes Sekkouri, Morocco's Minister of Economic Inclusion, inaugurated the summit and discussed the
COVID-19 pandemic's toll on SMEs. He emphasized their need for resilient strategies, calling for robust investments in diversified economic areas and guiding them to high-quality sectors. Sekkouri stressed the need to expand networks and resources to create opportunities for the youth if the investment environment falls short.
