Friday Sermons from the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque

Friday Sermons from the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque

In the Grand Mosque, the esteemed Imam and preacher, Yasser bin Rashid Al-Dosari, advised Muslims to fear Allah and to worship Him, drawing closer to Him through obedience, satisfying Him, and avoiding His wrath and prohibitions.
He emphasized, “Indeed, the remembrance of Allah the Almighty is the purest of actions, the best of qualities, and the most beloved to the Majestic Allah. The texts of revelation have converged and abundantly clarified the virtue of remembrance, the great reward, and merit it entails, as well as the noble outcomes and high ranks prepared for its people in this life and the hereafter. Allah the Almighty said: {And the men and the women who remember Allah greatly, Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward}.”

He pointed out that remembering Allah the Almighty pleases the Most Merciful, increases faith, repels Satan, relieves worries and sadness, fills the soul with joy and contentment, revives the heart from its deathly state, prevents one's downfall, and awakens from heedlessness. This leads to physical vitality, strength, facial radiance, and dignity. Remembrance connects the rememberer to the One remembered, until the rememberer becomes remembered by Allah. Allah the Almighty said: {Therefore, remember Me, I will remember you, and be thankful to Me, and do not be ungrateful to Me} [2:152]. Were there nothing in the virtue of remembrance but this, it would suffice as a favor and honor. Indeed, the remembrance of Allah is greater than everything, and our Lord, glorified and exalted, has commanded us to abundantly remember Him, and He has threatened loss to those who neglect His remembrance.

He affirmed that acts of worship were legislated only for the establishment of the remembrance of Allah the Almighty. Allah, the Exalted, said: {And establish prayer for My remembrance}. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: “The hurling of the pebbles (at the pillars during Hajj) and the running between Safa and Marwah are only meant to establish the remembrance of Allah.” Allah made remembrance the conclusion of righteous deeds; He concluded the prayer, in general, with it, the Friday prayer specifically, fasting, and Hajj, highlighting its manifold benefits and virtues.

The Imam and preacher of the Grand Mosque mentioned that the remembrance has many significant benefits and noble advantages beyond human comprehension, unattainable by mere intellect or sight. Remembrance is a means of attaining missed blessings and preserving existing ones.

In Medina, the esteemed Imam and preacher of the Prophet's Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Abdulrahman al-Hudhaifi, urged Muslims to fear Allah the Almighty, to be steadfast in obeying Him by fulfilling obligations and avoiding sins, to attain His pleasure, mercy, forgiveness, and victory in His paradise.

During Friday's sermon, Sheikh Dr. Ali Al-Hudhaifi explained that steadfastness is of great importance, the pinnacle of which is performing obligatory acts, avoiding prohibitions, and remaining steadfast on this path as commanded by Allah to His Messenger - peace be upon him. Allah, the Most High, also outlines various levels of believers in steadfastness, promising them grand rewards including paradise, where they will be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls, and their garments will be silk.

The Sheikh detailed that angels reassure the believers not to fear or grieve at the moment of transitioning from this world to the hereafter, promising them paradise as Allah never fails in His promise, a place where no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has imagined.

Furthermore, Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi emphasized the importance of remembering Allah and being steadfast in faith, leading to varying levels among Muslims in performing good deeds, avoiding sins, and the promise of great rewards for those who persist in righteousness. He concluded by encouraging Muslims to adhere to good deeds, avoid prohibitions, and follow the Prophet's advice to fear Allah wherever they are, to follow a bad deed with a good one to erase it, and to treat people with good character, as reported by Ahmad and Tirmidhi.
