Brazil has extended an invitation to Egypt to join the 2024 G20 meetings as a guest under its new presidency, showcasing the strong friendship and cooperation between the two nations. Egypt's involvement highlights its significant regional and global economic influence.
Last week, Ambassador Ragy El-Etreby represented Egypt at a G20 preparatory gathering in Brasilia, focusing on global economic challenges such as poverty, inequality, and climate change.
El-Etreby emphasized the impact of recent crises, including
COVID-19 and the Ukraine war, on the world and noted the G20's influence, representing 80% of the world's GDP and 60% of its population.
During the discussions, Egypt voiced its commitment to active participation, aiming to further international cooperation on key issues like food security, energy, and financial reform, with a particular focus on African and developing nations' interests.
