Elpidio Reyna identified as fugitive in connection with violent clashes during demonstrations.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the capture of Elpidio Reyna, a 40-year-old man from Compton, California.
Reyna is wanted in relation to violent actions during recent anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) protests in Los Angeles, where he was reportedly caught on video throwing rocks at moving vehicles.
In a public statement, U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli confirmed that Reyna is now classified as a fugitive.
The anti-ICE protests, which have unfolded across California, have been marked by significant unrest, including multiple incidents of arson involving vehicles and clashes between protesters and law enforcement.
Reports indicate that over a span of three days, several injuries occurred, including the hospitalization of an Australian journalist due to injuries sustained from a rubber bullet.
Additionally, numerous protesters faced arrest amid escalating confrontations with police officers.
In response to the unrest, U.S. President
Donald Trump authorized the deployment of nearly 5,000 National Guard troops and Marines to assist in managing the situation in Los Angeles.
The protests have been fueled by ongoing governmental efforts to deport undocumented immigrants, with more than 120,000 deportations reported since April 2025. Data from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement indicates that a record 2,200 arrests were made during recent immigration raids.
The developments surrounding the protests and the FBI's pursuit of Elpidio Reyna reflect the heightened tensions regarding immigration policy and enforcement in the United States.
