HK reports 107 Covid cases, 40 infections untraceable

The Centre for Health Protection said as of 12am today, it has recorded 107 additional confirmed coronavirus cases – five imported and 102 local – bringing the tally to 9,665 cases.
Details of three cases are yet to be confirmed.

Among the 104 patients were 53 men and 51 women, aged between two months to 94 years.

Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the Centre for Health Protection's Communicable Disease Branch, said of the fresh local cases today, 53 were linked to previous local infections and 49 with untraceable sources.

Chuang said among the local patients related to other local infections, both the Ma Tau Kok work site of the Central Kowloon Route and the Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin tunnel construction site clusters has seen one patient added to each cluster.

Health officials also announced that seven buildings in the Yau Ma Tei-Jordan area have been issued with a mandatory testing order, with around 20 individuals living in the area found to have contracted the coronavirus.

The seven include buildings on 184-186 Shanghai Street, 170-174 Shanghai Street, 18 Reclamation Street, 28-34 Battery Street Jordan [Bo Lun Building], 230-236 Temple Street [Siu Hing Building], 163 Temple Street and 542 Canton Road.

According to the center, 661 cases has been logged since January 4, 160 of which live in Yau Ma Tei, including 120 living in the area bordered for mandatory testing. Among the 661, over one-fourth of them were South Asians.
