Humanitarian supplies donated to the Government of the Bahamas

The Ministry of Health, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Emergency Management Agency are pleased to announce the arrival of a shipment of medical supplies donated by the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The shipment contained eighty thousand (80,000) masks, twenty-six thousand two hundred fifty (26,250) IgG Rapid Test Kits, one hundred (100) coveralls, one hundred (100) N-95 masks, and three thousand (3000) gloves.

This is the second tranche of donations made by the Government of the UAE to The Bahamas. Supplies previously received included throat swabs, nasal swabs, test kits and surgical masks.

The Bahamas Government expresses its deep appreciation to the Government of the UAE for its generous donation in the fight against the COVID 19 pandemic. The UAE has given donations to other countries, including Caribbean countries, demonstrating its global leadership to combat the pandemic.

The Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Emergency Management Agency are also pleased to announce the arrival of a shipment of medical supplies donated by the World Health Organization (WHO)/Jack Ma (will be expected next week). The shipment will include four thousand one hundred eighty (4180) N-95 masks and one hundred thirty-five thousand three hundred (135,300) masks.

The Bahamas Government also expresses its deep appreciation to the WHO/Jack Ma for its generous donation in the fight against the COVID 19 pandemic.

The donation was the result of a discussion between the Prime Minister of Barbados and the Director-General of the World Health Organization. The Director-General of WHO made a previous commitment to support the provision of essential medical devices and supplies to countries of CARICOM.

The delivery of this donation was facilitated by the Integrated Regional Logistics Hub (IRLH) of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency under (CDEMA) under the World Food Programme.

On hand to receive the shipment were The Bahamas' Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Tony Joudi, the Director of NEMA, Captain Stephen Russell and Mr Audley Bain, Deputy Director of Supplies Management Agency, Public Hospitals Authority, Ministry of Health.
