On May 20, 2025, the Israeli Defense Forces announced the targeted killing of a field commander of Hezbollah in the vicinity of Tyre, southern Lebanon.

According to the Israeli statement, the commander had been actively involved in planning attacks on Israel during the recent conflict and was responsible for efforts to rebuild Hezbollah’s military capabilities in the region.

He was also described as facilitating the transfer of weapons.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that nine individuals were injured during the airstrike on a motorcycle in the region, including two children, and three of the injured are in critical condition.

The airstrike took place near a school, prompting panic among students in the vicinity.

This incident occurred shortly after Israeli warplanes carried out a series of air raids across southern Lebanon on May 19, resulting in one fatality and additional injuries.

The Israeli military mentioned a specific targeted killing of a member of Hezbollah's elite Radwan Unit during these strikes.

Since the initiation of a ceasefire agreement on November 27 of last year, the Israeli military has conducted hundreds of airstrikes in Lebanon, which have resulted in 201 fatalities and over 500 injuries.

Reports indicate that the Israeli military has violated the ceasefire over 3,000 times and continues to maintain control over certain positions in southern Lebanon, despite calls from Lebanon and various international entities for the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
