Jordan Condemns Israeli Settler Incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque

Jordanian officials denounce actions by Israeli settlers as provocative, reaffirming exclusive Muslim rights over Al-Aqsa.
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs has publicly condemned the recent incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli settlers, labeling the actions as provocative and inflammatory.

The incidents occurred on Monday and Tuesday, when hundreds of Israeli settlers entered the mosque compound, located in the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem.

The ministry describes the settlers' behavior as an attempt to impose new temporal and spatial divisions at the holy site.

Israeli settlers frequently visit Al-Aqsa under the protection of Israeli police, and are often accompanied by government officials and members of far-right political factions.

Spokesperson Sufian Qudah stated that such incursions would not be feasible without the support and facilitation of the Israeli police, urging Israeli authorities to cease what he termed irresponsible and dangerous practices.

On Tuesday, certain settlers were reported to have engaged in Talmudic rituals within Al-Aqsa, specifically a practice known as 'epic prostration,' which involves bowing low to the ground.

Qudah further emphasized that the 144-dunam area encompassing Al-Aqsa Mosque is designated exclusively for Muslim worshippers.

He reiterated that the Jerusalem Endowments Council, operating under Jordan’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, holds sole legal authority over the management and regulation of Al-Aqsa’s affairs, as recognized by international norms.
