KSrelief, FAO sign cooperation agreement
King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed today — via video conference — a cooperation agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) worth $8 million, to improve the living conditions of Yemeni families whose main source of income depends on agriculture, livestock and fisheries.
This would benefit 34,500 families in 14 districts in the Governorates of Abyan, Al Hodeidah, Al Jawf, and Al Mahra.
Advisor at the Royal Court and KSrelief Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah and FAO Director General Qu Dongyu co-signed the agreement.
The agreement aims to support the farmers, livestock owners, and fishermen, protect working families, and improve access to fish landing sites by rehabilitating productive infrastructure and providing basic fishing tools.
It also aims to increase food production capacity by providing agricultural inputs, animal production through distributing feed and salt cubes, and developing the capacities of the staff of the Yemeni Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries and enable them to provide training to beneficiary families.
This agreement comes as part of the Kingdom's keenness, represented by the KSrelief, to provide various forms of humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people, improve their living conditions, and mitigate the humanitarian crisis and the effects of the coronavirus on the population.
