Panama accumulates in five days nearly 4,000 cases of coronavirus

In the past five days, coronavirus cases in Panama totaled close to 4,000, after the daily reports exceeded 550 infections, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

According to Minsa statistics, between Monday 22 and Friday 26 June there have been 3,875 cases of Covid-19. Last week; Between Monday, June 15 and Friday, June 19, 3,588 cases were noted. In other words, 203 more infections accumulated this week.

This Thursday, June 25, Panama hit the record number of new cases per day; 1,007 cases.

In the report of the last 24 hours of the Health authorities, a total of 12 townships added more than 20 new cases. Tocumen, which is the corregimiento with the most accumulated contagions in the country, added in 24 hours 39.

In addition, according to the report, in the interior of the country there was a significant increase of cases in the towns of Changuinola (Bocas del Toro) with 32, Barú (Chiriquí) with 25 and David (Chiriquí) 22.

Israel Cedeño, director of the Metropolitan Health Region, said yesterday that in the next few days cases will not drop below 500 because more tests are being applied and that they will be able to take actions to control the virus.

Until the report of yesterday, Friday, Panama accumulates 29,905 cases, with 15,270 recovered and 575 deaths.
