Saudi Arabia to host final stage of AFC Champions League Elite
Saudi Arabia being designated as the host association for the AFC Champions League Elite – Final Stage for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
In this competition, the top 24 clubs from Asia will be divided into West and East regions, with 12 teams in each. They will compete in a home-and-away league format to reach the Round of 16, and the eight winners will progress to the Final Stage.
Notably, the Final Stage, including the Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, and Final, will be played as single-leg ties in Saudi Arabia, marking a significant development for Asian club football. The matches for the 2024/25 season are scheduled from April 25 to May 4, 2025, with a record prize purse of $12 million for the champions, a threefold increase from the current season.
Saudi Arabia's selection as the host followed an evaluation of infrastructure, accommodation, and operational aspects. Additionally, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation has provisionally secured hosting rights for the subsequent three seasons, from 2026/27 to 2028/29, based on its submitted interest and suitability.
